At ~9:35 AM MDT a plume of smoke was observed about a mile behind the lodge and there was a slight smell of burning at the lodge. A Teller County Sheriff vehicle investigated, and the plume was not seen again. More information to follow(?).
NOTE: The fire was a controlled burn by one of the residents who lives on the ridge behind the lodge. The burn ban has been lifted by the Forest Service/Teller County
Richard appreciated being informed by the BEACHON-RoMBAS crew commenting:
"There was a private landowner in Hotel Gulch who had a burn permit from the county to burn a couple of slash piles. The county sheriff and the U.S. Forest Service checked them out.
Thanks for passing the incident on to me. A quick response from everyone helps out big time."
